I used to suffer from skin and finger allergies for the past 30 years since the age of 12. My fingers will bleed and hardened so much so I have difficulties to even do a thumb print. I also experienced difficulties in squatting and walking down the staircase due to the pain from a worn out cartilage on my left knee. Cancer Survivor Beats Depression and Osteoporosis - Suzanne Scherr Steger

My name is Suzanne Scherr Steger. I am 52 years old. Before cancer, I was a college music professor and arts administrator, then I homeschooled my children through junior high and high school. I was surprised to get life changing results in recovering from cancer and chemotherapy as a result of taking the Reliv shakes.

In January of 1998, I was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer ; the cancer had metastasized to the lymph nodes and was growing at a proliferation rate of 39%. (17-19% is considered a fast growing cancer.) I had seen my mother and her mother go through breast cancer, chemo, and radiation, and I did not want more than one experience of breast cancer. So I chose to have a double mastectomy followed by six months of experimental chemotherapy. Chemotherapy put me into an immediate and permanent state of menopause at age forty-four. I started shrinking due to massive bone density loss. I lost all of my hair, and I was in and out of the emergency room and the hospital so much that our family went to live with another family for 13 weeks. My blood counts had always been bad (I was chronically anemic) but during chemo, I had to have a shot of Neupogin every day to stimulate my bone marrow to produce good blood.

I had believed in nutrition for a long time, avoiding white sugar, white flour and salt, for the ten years prior to cancer. So the day after my cancer diagnosis, I went to my friend, an MD nutritionist, who followed me throughout the next 18 months. He gave me injections, powders, capsules, and a soy-based protein shake to handle the menopausal symptoms. I also ate the “perfect” diet, and juiced vegetables twice a day (at least two bags of carrots and a full stock of celery) in addition to sprouts and other vegetables which we grew. Finally, I also grew and juiced wheat grass. I hate to think what condition I would have been in if I hadn’t attempted all of those nutritional solutions. However, they weren’t enough to turn me back around on the road to health.

I had been taking antidepressants since 1993. When I finished chemotherapy, I felt like I had lost my mind, the clinical depression was so bad. My general physician simply told me that most women feel like they are losing their mind while going through menopause, but my brain fog was so bad that I couldn’t make any decisions, such as what to wear or what to eat. From December 1998 to October 1999 my General Physician prescribed two different kinds of antidepressants: Prozac and Wellbuterin. Unknown to us, I had a drug interaction between those two drugs which prompted panic attacks. For ten months my doctor simply increased the dosages of the antidepressants, thus increasing the frequency and severity of the panic attacks. In addition, in August 1999, my doctor and I were in an open argument about my refusal to start on hormone replacement therapy. I had shrunk an inch in the previous 12 months, and had 17 prescriptions which I could renew without his permission at the local pharmacy. He believed that hormone replacement therapy would handle the depression, the panic attacks, and the loss of bone density. I believed that all of the prescription drugs were shortening my life, not to mention affecting the quality of life for me. I was in pain all of the time, due to residual effects of chemotherapy, as well as the more recent slipped disk in my back. I wore a neck brace and could not stand up for more than a few minutes at a time.

So when my husband insisted in October 1999 that we begin taking the Relìv supplements, I had a new excuse to give my doctor for postponing (again) the inevitable hormone replacement therapy. I was not convinced by the ingredients given on the label that this “perfect” food was going to do anything that all of the other nutritional supplements hadn’t done. In fact, everything was in tiny dosages. But, they offered our money back, (which no one else had done) and my husband had heard a story of a breast cancer survivor who got off all of her medications. It gave me hope that I might be able to reduce some of my drugs

I began taking the shakes on October 15, 1999. For three months I took two scoops of Classic, a half a scoop of Innergize, and a Full scoop of FibRestore, three times a day. For the next six weeks I added ProVantage and Soy Sentials, and took as many shakes as I could swallow. In less than five months, I was off of all medications. In my first month of taking the shakes, my life-long struggle with constipation ended, and I began to feel some emotional strength returning. Every time I saw my doctor, which was every 4 to 6 weeks, I told him that I hadn’t used all of the prescriptions he had given me. He said I didn’t have to take them if I felt I didn’t need them, but he always gave me more prescriptions in case I changed my mind. Since March 7, 2000 my body has been able to fight off colds and flues without over the counter or prescription drugs. I consider this incredible new immune system to be my greatest defense against the return of cancer. It took me several months before I gave up on all of the other nutritional solutions. Even though I still eat a generally healthy diet, now I depend entirely upon Reliv for my nutritional needs.

After four months of taking the shakes, I had my regularly-scheduled oncology visit. My blood counts were perfect, and my oncologist encouraged me to keep doing whatever it was that I was doing. He said that he could not have told from my blood work that I had ever been sick. At six months, my chronically low blood pressure and tunnel vision went away. At twelve months, a bone density scan proved that my 47-year-old bones had the density of a 30-year-old woman.

Now I only need to go to the doctor for wellness visits, I don’t need a drug card, I spend less on groceries, and have many more hours in the day for productive work and leisure. For me, the most significant result has been psychiatric: the ability to handle the stresses of life with a minimum of emotional trauma, and a maximum of mental clarity. I praise God for all of these answers to prayer.

Asthmatic and High Blood Pressure! Jennifer W. Tan

I am Mayor Jennifer Wee Tan of Tangub City, Philippines. Since childhood I am asthmatic and at the same time develops skin allergy whenever I eat shrimps and crabs. When I became Mayor I developed high blood pressure due to a lot of stress on my work. My pressure went up to 160/100. I am Mohari from Singapore. I am an IT officer by profession.

I am a diabetic Type 1 for the past 18 years and have been depending on insulin jabs twice a day. We have been exceptionally blessed this year by an extraordinary set of circumstances. I was approached by Channel 5 News to do a segment of their show about 4 weeks ago. My daughter has an intractable seizure disorder which was brought on by a DPT shot at 4 months old. The news piece concerned a diet which my daughter was on for 2 years and is only used as a last resort when all the medications fail. Unfortunately, the diet failed as well. My Humble Story by Pao Chu

My name is Cheong Pao Chu. I am a housewife, married since 1993 and have five children since then. My eldest one is a boy, Wee Soon. He is the one that down with sickness. I am much worry about him.

Until know, I still do not know what cause him like that. Some doctors said his condition was due to the lack of oxygen in the brain since birth, hence, retarded.

Physically, I know that his body is very weak, unable to speak, unable stand up, drooling with saliva, little brain to hands/ to legs coordination, and very often have fits (about 12times per month).

Now, He is 8 years old. I have not help him to seek further medical treatment since age of 5 due to my poor financial situation.

My household income is from husband (Dong Ah Kuk) working as a trailer driver based in Johor. I have tried gardening and I am able to sell some plants/flowers for extra cash. So far, this is all I can do. My Aunty allowed my family to stay in her house. Financial help from siblings are little.

My both parents are living with me. Unfortunately, They are also down with sicknesses. My mother, Lai Chin Chin (age 57), diagnosed with colon cancer a year ago (early stage) . My father, Cheong Chak Yin (age 66), is a stroke patient 5 years ago. He is now unable to walk, hence, bedridden since Dec. 2004.

My wife, Dr. Earleen Ong, who also happens to be a doctor at a private medical center, gave birth to my daughter, Angelique Gabrielle “Arielle”, on April 12, 1995. Upon delivery, my daughter was assessed and was given an APGAR score of 4. The APGAR scoring is a practical form of clinical assessment of the newborn which evaluates the baby’s condition. My daughter Arielle had, at 1 minute, pink body with blue extremities, slight grimace, a little flexion of extremities, an absent respiratory effort, and most alarming of all, a heart rate below 100. Resuscitation was initiated and only after 15 minutes were we sure that she was breathing spontaneously. Thus, at 1 minute, Arielle’s APGAR score is 4. Given this history at delivery, we were now contemplating about the future health and mental status of my daughter.

True enough, at 4 months, my daughter can’t even hold her head up. Normally, a child at 1 year of age, must be able to stand alone without support. We couldn’t even remember when Arielle crawled, what more, stand-alone. It seemed to be an eternity that we have waited for her to move normally according to her age! She was always drooling, had difficulties both in fine and gross motor skills, and at the age of 4, and had not spoken a word. The normal developmental milestone of a child goes like this;

We brought Arielle to a developmentalist and she diagnosed at the age of 4 with GLOBAL MENTAL RETARDATION! That day, my wife and I saw our world crumble. I have never cried so much in my entire life! (Now that I’m writing about it, I can’t contain myself and tears just roll from my eyes!)

Back to reality… my wife and I could NOT and would NOT accept defeat! We followed all the recommendations. We sent Arielle to speech therapy, occupational and physical therapy, and each day, I saw myself paying 350 pesos to 600 pesos a day just to give my daughter a chance to survive in this world.

We felt that nothing was happening. We literally made our world revolve around my daughter. In this new field of medicine, I will learn how to detoxify and solve my daughter’s problem. And so I thought! I learned a lot there however. I learned how to detoxify toxins from patients using the same toxic substance that they have been exposed too. But the sole reason for my further studies have not been met. I WANT TO MAKE MY CHILD, MY BEAUTIFUL CHILD, BECOME NORMAL!!!

After 2 years in training, I returned not confident enough that I have accomplished my goal. My daughter was then 6 years old. We have to decide where she must study. The recommendation is a special education school. Then came my angel, who happens to be none other than my father-in-law, Mr. Teodoro Seño. He was still a director of a multinational pharmaceutical company when he told me about the food supplement which seemed to be an answer for so many questions. He told me about RELIV!

Reliv? Never heard!!! As skeptical as I am for being in the medical field, I agreed to attend one of their meetings in Ortigas. It was Mrs. Rose Blancaflor (now like a mother to all of us) who was giving the presentation. I heard testimonies and stories. Stories that seemed possible yet so dramatic that I became more skeptical. As doctors, we want evidence-based data! I even want randomized clinical trials and I was asking my father-in-law to supply me with one. I was asking about their so-called bioavailability tests. I’ve probably asked about 2,000 questions from my father-in-law which he couldn’t answer. Then came the word “network marketing”! MY GOD!!! The more that I felt that this is NOT for me. When they explained that this is a food research and scientific company that only uses network marketing as its tool to give health and wealth to people, I was now telling my father-in-law that I wanted to go home and forget about it.

Now that I think about it, if I had walked out of that presentation, I would have also walked out from the sole reason why I was there in the first place… for my daughter’s sake. To appease my father-in-law, I signed in and got the Reliv products. We only had NOW, Fibrestore, Ultrim, Innergize, and ReversAge then. I studied and examined all the ingredients that we have been studying in the laboratory. How come I never heard about it in the States? Nevertheless, I started giving it to myself first.

I have had urolithiasis (kidney stones as well as stones in the urinary tract) for many years. The night I took my first scoop, I slowly felt flank pains and I was so sure that the product was not for me. Being a doctor, I told myself that I would challenge it to the point that I’ll stop when pain is unbearable and go consult my friend doctors to tell them that I was so gullible to believe about RELIV. After 3 days of on and off flank pains, it stopped and I urinated ground stones! I was stunned!

So I gave it to my mom who is diabetic, my father who had 4 episodes of stroke, my cousin who has asthma, my aunt who has arthritis, and to anyone I know who might need it. I took their blood chemistry exams before and after they took Reliv and I was amazed with the results.

Then came the decision to give it my daughter. My wife was against it for some time for we have not tried the product on a child. I reassured her that everything will be fine after giving her a kiss, I place a scoop in my daughter’s milk formula. I told my wife and yaya that everytime Arielle drinks her milk, they must incorporate NOW in the milk formula. I again turned to my wife and I told her that after a month and my daughter is having reactions with the product, I will terminate my membership and forget about RELIV. What do you know!!! In 3 weeks time, Arielle stopped drooling! I was ecstatic! But still, this was too early to tell. My wife who was the one more skeptical than I am, whispered to me that to halt the drooling is a triumph enough for us. I nodded in agreement. My daughter then had a gradual increase in weight. She began moving faster and was responding all the time to us with a smile. Now, at the age of 8, Arielle is not in special education. She is not in any speech and occupational therapy. She’s in a regular school and has lots of friends. She is one of the top in her class and has excelled in her studies. Remember that she couldn’t walk nor run jump before? Well, now, she’s enrolled in ballet school and had her first recital last year. Am I proud father? You be! I’m the proudest father!!!

So when people ask me now, why I’m in Reliv, I quickly answer that I am in Reliv because God answered my prayer. “Reliv made me believe in hope again. It gave my daughter her life back.” And we, the entire family, will be taking Reliv products forever… and ever… and ever!
